Q Awards nominees: the usual suspects
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver September 17th, 2004
If you're a Q reader, please, stop buying the magazine. It's your fault that the following acts are up for awards at their yearly awards bash:

Jamelia
Goldie Lookin' Chain
Maroon 5

Maroon-fucking-five? Up for best single with 'This-fucking-Love'? Please...

Anyway, a slightly better act, Franz Ferdinand, are up for four gongs, including Best New Act (well d'uh), Best Album, Best Single ('Take Me Out') and Best Video. They'll probably clean up, especially considering the only album category competition comes from The Libertines and The Scissor Sisters (face it, albums by Keane, Dizzee Rascal and The Streets aren't going to get a look in when the readers vote, 'cause they're a bit shit, really).

The really quite horrible Best Act In The World Today Award will be won by Radiohead. They're up against the would-be-if-they'd-sold-more OutKast and Muse, and the fairly predictable U2, Coldplay and The Red Hot...

Oh come on, not again. I need a sit down.
