Londoners: swap the football for the rock this weekend...
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver October 3rd, 2006

Yeah yeah, so there's an England match on the telly. Bothered. It's Macedonia. At home. We'll win, yeah? So come to this instead of sitting at home in front of the Beeb...

Big Scary Monsters - the label that originally brought you Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly and Jeniferever, and continues to tickle your ears with all manner of wonderful rock music - has assembled a lovely Saturday afternoon bill that's certain to get your toes a tapping and your heart a racing. Yup yup...

Playing live at Notting Hill Arts Club (free entry show; 16.00-20.00; over 18s only) are Through Snowy Static, a folksy duo who can be heard by visiting their MySpace page. Also on the bill are Italian emo-rockers Settlefish, whose Deep Elm-released album Plural Of The Choir was among this writer's favourite loud albums of last year, and The Campaign for Real-Time (pictured), US dance-punk-funkers whose Yes... I Mean No album is also well worth your time and attention.

Settlefish can be heard here, while The Capaign For Real-Time can be listened to here. Fresh. Also appearing is... me, actually. On DJ duty. Don't distract me when I'm playing dälek into your ears.
