Purple reign: Prince makes it 21 with new London dates
TinPanAl by Alex Denney June 12th, 2007

Prince has added six more dates at the London O2 Arena to extend his record-breaking sell-out run of 15 shows in the capital.

Details of the new dates, which will take place in August and September, have been confirmed after the previously-announced concerts sold out in a matter of hours. They will see the li’l funky fella perform his greatest hits for the last time, apparently.

Prince’s new album Planet Earth – he’s not gone all kitchen sink, then – will be released on July 16 on Columbia Records.

And in news that makes DiS go all weak at the knees in spite of our better judgment, Wendy and Lisa – yes, they of The Revolution – have been confirmed as “among the artists appearing on the album”.

You can find bits of the video for first single ‘Guitar’ in the usual places on the web. It can roughly be summarized as follows: Prince loves the lay-deez, but not as much as he loves his squiggly purple gee-tar. Interestingly enough, there is no mention of where Jehova figures in this epic vying for the purple one's affections. The song sounds a bit like ‘Cream’.

Those dates in full (all of ‘em at London O2 Arena, naturally)...
