Cry Control: Karen O in teary shocker
TinPanAl by Alex Denney July 11th, 2007

Yeah Yeahs Yeahs singer Karen O has revealed that the tears she shed in the band's video for single 'Maps' were real.

Her salty-faced attempts at upstaging Sinead O’Connor came when then-squeeze Angus Andrews of Liars showed up late for the shoot.

She told NME: "They were real tears. My boyfriend at the time was supposed to come to the shoot - he was three hours late and I was just about to leave for tour.

"I didn't think he was even going to come and this was the song that was written for him. He eventually showed up and I got myself in a real emotional state.

But Ms O insists she was cool with the blubfest being aired: "Patrick Daughters, the video's director, is my best friend, so I was fine with him using it all."

In a competition of no discernible purpose, and with no tangible prize, we’re inviting readers to send in their videos of themselves crying.

If you’re normally the stoical type, this video might help.
