As Cardiff’s ‘crawl’ – Swn, to you and I – hurtles towards through the first winter mists, DiS approaches you awkwardly from a distance, makes this pointless small talk and invites you out to the pictures.

As well as the bands – who number among their ranks Black Lips, Bass Clef, Beirut and The Cribs - there will be films at Huw Stephens inaugural weekend romper.

Friday 9th November
Andy Votel Screenings - Daisies and Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders
Chapter Arts Centre, 3pm

Finders Keepers record boss Votel released the scores from these two prominent missives from the Czech New Wave. To wit, both films will be screened at Swn.

Saturday 10th November
3 Films by Saint Etienne - Finisterre, What Have You Done Today, Mervyn Day? and This Is Tomorrow

Kieran Evans - 30 minute Fence Collective documentary and 15 minute preview of forthcoming Vasht Bunyan documentary
Chapter arts centre, 12.30pm

’90s band Saint Etienne have turned attentions to celluloid; where the focus is on London. This Is Tomorrow, released this year, tells the story of the first 50 years of The Royal Festival Hall.
At the same screening, two films by Kieran Evans will be put to reel – the first a half hour documentary looking at the Fence Collective (King Creosote, James Yorkston); the second a 15 minute preview of an imminent Vashti Bunyan doc.
Total running time comes to five hours, but “drop in as you please!” insist the organisers. The directors will be in attendance.

Saturday 10th November
Swn Music Movies
Chapter Arts Centre, 3pm

A compiled look at the latest music videos shot by locals – artists, filmmakers, Swn’s billed musical performers. Includes efforts from Vibration White Finger, Dead Residents, Soft Hearted Scientists, Attack and Defend, Ryan Andrews, The Voices, Dave Legion, Texas Radio Band, Owain Paciuszko.

Sunday 11th November
Simon Miller - Seachd

When a young man, Angus, visits his dying Grandfather in hospital he cannot hold back his boyhood quest for the truth - the truth behind the death of his parents and the truth behind his Grandfather's ancient, incredible, fearful stories. His Grandfather hijacks Angus' life for one last time leading him to one of Scotland's most treacherous mountains, The Inaccessible Pinnacle, and an ancient truth he never expected to find.

Sunday 11th November

4pm onwards: Documentary about the seminal Welsh band, Datblygu.

5pm: Welsh-language shorts and music videos

6pm: Ankstmusik (Emyr Glyn Williams, 1998)
A brief history of Welsh pop from the perspective of one of its most influential labels, Ankst.

7.30pm: Sampli (Sion Mali, 2006) A special showing of Sion Mali's short doc, with live performance...

8pm: A Mighty Wind (Christopher Guest, 2003)
Mockumentary capturing the reunion of 1960's folk trio The Folksmen, as they prepare for a one-off show in memory of a recently deceased promoter.
