Chesney Hawkes' Baby Jane Finally Stays Away
misterben by Mr Ben December 24th, 2001
Chesney Hawkes' comeback single, 'Stay Away Baby Jane', will finally be released by ARC on the 31st of December, backed by b-sides 'Almost You' and an Axton Speedway Mix of the a-side.

Chesney has been touring for most of the year, playing generally to receptive crowds of students. To promote the single's release, he will play more shows in the new year, including a date at Nottingham University on January 26th.

Chesney's recent sets have included, alongside previews of material from his forthcoming album and the much-demanded revival of previous Number One, 'The One And Only', a number of cover versions. Amongst these is a unique rendition of Cheap Trick's classic 'Surrender', which has also been recorded for possible release in the future.

For any cynical rock fans whose only perception of Chesney Hawkes is as a naive one-hit-wonder, his New Year release should be used as an opportunity to discover the artist's genuine talents, especially now that he is ten years wiser and writing his own material. A sample of the single is still available for download on his website, www.chesneyhawkes.com.
