They got banned from MTV for being - really kids - too ugly. They got sued by a popular cola company. They also got sued by people in a photograph that they found and used as part of some album artwork. They got dropped from their label for using a picture of Bill Clinton sucking on a joint for a tour poster. Too ugly.

Oh, and they totally influenced and toured with Nirvana (and Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains), pretty much invented grunge (or at least refined it), recorded with Albini and Vig, influenced Nirvana... yeah, TAD did some stuff back when.
