Ozzy and Pavement collaboration
DiSvsMatt by Mat Hocking April 15th, 2002
Ozzy Osbourne was officially proclaimed a rock STAR last week as he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy, whose current fly-on-the-wall rockumentary 'At Home With The Osbournes' has taken the US by storm, told the crowd he was "totally surprised" to have received the honour and thanked fans for making the trip to Hollywood Boulevard for the morning ceremony.

"To say this is an honour is not enough, you know? I'm just so overwhelmed with you guys turning out so early in the morning to see my old butt," he said. "Thank you very much. I love you all."

2,000 people turned up for the event including self-proclaimed 'God Of F*ck' Marilyn Manson who said of Osbourne's induction to the Walk Of Fame: "This star right here proves that it's quite obvious that Ozzy has managed to succeed while remaining insane and strangely happy despite his various crimes against God and nature." Or was he talking about himself?

He also revealed to the crowd how he got to know the rock legend whilst touring with the annual Ozzfest. "The first time on OzzFest I actually had to sue the State of New Jersey because they said I was more offensive than Ozzy," he recalled, visibly shocked at the prospect of going one step further than an aging rocker who pulls faces, bunny-hops round the stage and sprays water at the crowd.

"The second time, though, I became more of an Uncle Manson to the Osbournes and got a little bit closer. I took young Jack Osbourne to his first strip bar, and Ozzy himself even offered to wife-swap with me, although I don't have a wife." Oooh, the little tinker!

Also present at the event last Friday (April 12th) were Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde and increasingly reclusive pop star Robbie Williams.
