Five-strong Band Of Horses have confirmed a new album is on its way, schedule for release some time this year, presumably around May 18, as that's when the American release date is. The record is called Infinite Arms and will be released on a record label of some description, though it hasn't yet been confirmed which.

Phil Ek, who leant his fair hand to records by The Shins, Modest Mouse and Fleet Foxes, returns to work with the band after producing their first two Sub Pop released records - 2006's Everything All The Time and 2007's Cease To Begin, which reached number 35 on the US Billboard chart. Fairly impressive stuff.

According to Ek, Horses songwriter Ben Bridwell said that, on moving from the sometimes dreary Pacific Northwest to the sunnier South Carolina affected his writing process somewhat.

“One thing I really miss about the Northwest is those times when you sit in your room and you write songs for four months and all of a sudden you show up with a record.”
