Male Bonding announce debut album and tour
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater March 12th, 2010

Dalstonite generally-pretty-noisy three-piece Male Bonding have announced their debut Long Player, which is due for release on the behemoth of indie record labels that is Sub Pop. It's called Nothing Hurts and will see the light of day on May 10. Not bad for a band that isn't even two years old yet...

The record was recorded in Autumn last year in New York (lucky them), and has been mixed and mastered by Pete Lyman. I can't imagine you'd expect anything especially substantial in terms of length, but more speedy bursts of sound, what with the record clocking in at around 30 minutes and all.

John Arthur Webb, guitarist and singer, said:

“I don’t like long songs. I lose interest when listening to them, and I lose interest when writing them. We always end up speeding things up without meaning to. Too much coffee.”

Which levels with most tracks being around the two-minute mark. What needs to be said can be done in 120 seconds, why waste any time fannying around?! The clip below suitably demonstrates their ethos:

As you'd expect, tour dates are imminent:

May:
1 - Leeds, Brudenell
19 - Guildford, The Boileroom w/ Pens
20 - Sheffield, The Harley
21 - Liverpool, Sound City, Venue TBC
22 - Glasgow, Art School Vic Bar
23 - Glasgow, Captain's Rest
24 - Edinburgh, Sneaky Pete's w/ Pens
25 - Newcastle, Head of Steam w/ Pens
27 - London, Camp Basement w/ Pens and Veronica Falls
28 - Canterbury, The Farmhouse

June:
10 - Manchester, Sound Control
11 - Norwich, Arts Centre
