Classic Guided By Voices line-up to reunite for Matador 21st birthday
JoeDiddly by Luke Slater June 30th, 2010

The 'classic' Guided By Voices line-up will reform to play a show at record label Matadaor's 21st birthday party in Las Vegas later in the year. Matador comes of age in October and, along with the GBV reunion, there will also be performances from Belle & Sebastian, Spoon, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Cat Power, Yo La Tengo The New Pornographers, Girls, Superchunk, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Guitar Wolf, Fucked Up, Shearwater, Harlem, Cold Cave, Kurt Vile, Jeffrey Joe Jenson and The John Spencer Blues Explosion. I think that constitutes a pretty damn cracking bill, all in all (via Pitchfork).

The birthday party takes place in Las Vegas, specifically at the Pearl at the Palms, as reported by Las Vegas Weekly. Yesterday GBV leader Robert Pollard announced the news on his own website, with the statement "GBV Classic Line-Up Reunites". Here's the rather wonderful poster for it, just so that you can get all excited. Or not. I don't know how cheap flights to Las Vegas are these days.

We're still waiting to see who just constitutes the 'classic' line-up of Guided By Voices, but once we find out we'll let you know. Anyone actually tempted to go to this?!
