Win: Hauschka Salon Des Amateurs Limited Edition Lithograph Prints
sean by Sean Adams April 14th, 2011

Hauschka aka the incredible Düsseldorf dwelling composer and prepared piano maestro Volker Bertelmann, has this week released his utterly hypnotic and heavenly new album Salon Des Amateurs and to celebrate we have a little competition.

His label, FatCat (home at one time or another to Sigur Ros, Mum, Frightened Rabbit and Animal Collective) have pressed up a limited run of 100 hand-numbered lithograph prints. The posters are A3-sized with a four colour print, and feature the cover artwork of the album, which is a detail from the painting 'Trains and Boats an Planes' by the artist, Stefan Kürten. They look ruddy great (we've nabbed one for our office wall!) and we have one TWO of the 100 they've printed, as well as a copy of the album, for two of you to win!

The posters look exactly like this:

Salon Des Amateurs utilises the percussive possibilities of 'treated piano' for Bertelmann's own unique take on minmalist techno and house. To enter, simply tell us - in the comment box below (it takes seconds to sign up using Facebook!) - one thing that Hauschka has used on this album or previously, to creatively modify and mutate the sound of a piano. We'll pick and notify a winner from the correct answers next Friday, 22nd April 2011.

BONUS PRIZE

Include the name of one of Hauschka's previous albums for a chance to win tickets to a special show in Brighton. When I say special, I mean a very very special show with visuals at St Mary’s Church on Thurs 12th May from 7pm - 10:30pm featuring Max Richter – performing Infra plus Hauschka and Dustin O’Halloran. Tickets for that extravaganza are available here.

In the meantime, if you've not heard it you can stream Salon Des Amateurs via the405 or find it here on Spotify. Or pick up a copy from the FatCat store.

P.S. Check back next week for a special piece by Hauschka explaining the prepared piano and discussing the influence of the music of Steve Reich.
