Watch the mighty Mogwai live in session for BBC Scotland
sean by Sean Adams January 28th, 2014

When records come out, bands do promotional things to ensure that the likes of you and I are aware that the record is in stores. Yarns will be spun in interviews, information will flutter out onto social networks and the artists will perform songs live, sometimes on the radio, to ensure that we know that it's not just available but that it's good, and if you like this, maybe you should buy it.

Makers of heaven-spun heft Mogwai are not-so different to most acts with 'units' of 'product' to 'shift', except when they do sessions, they don't politely stroll up to some small studio with an acoustic geetar and do some Mumfartarded version of their song, oh no, they've gone and snarled the calm of a BBC airwaves in Scotland, treating us to some magnificent live versions of tracks from Rave Tapes (which went into the top 10 of the UK album charts on Sunday!).

Here then are the band in session for the Beeb, and if you like it, you'll find yourself heading out into the cold dark night and buying the bloody record.

Mogwai's 8th studio album Rave Tapes is out now on their own Rock Action label. Review the DiS review of it here and if you missed our chat with Mogwai's Barry Burns about the LP, you'll be wanting to read that too.
