Having released 2 singles through Rough Trade already this year with the 'What A Waster/I Get Along' double A side reaching number 37 and the recent 'Up The Bracket' entering the chart at number 29, the band have just released their debut album (also titled 'Up The Bracket') this week, also on Rough Trade.

Still, it's maintained that The Libertines have infact just signed to EMI Publishing for the massive sum of £400,000 after only 2 (barely) charting singles, a new album and prehaps just a little hype/bandwagon jumping... lies or hidden truth? we'll bring the official word when we get it.

In other news Carl and Gary from The Libertines were spotted at the Metro Club on Friday night, our source continues: "Carl wore his sunglasses and parka all through the bands and onto the disco which was SWELTERING. He has passed the pop star test for me..."
