Oxford's Arts Festival: first details
Mike_Diver by Mike Diver March 15th, 2006

Oxford's Arts Festival, run in conjunction with the city council, is to be held on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th May across a host of venues.

The two-day event will look to showcase the best of the city and surrounding area's musicians, artists and performance artists, running from noon until 3am each day. A charity event, all profits will go to local projects: The Young Women's Band Project and The John Radcliffe Hospital Music Therapy Room. Tickets (prices below) will be available from Virgin in Oxford and Reading, and from the OxfordMusic website, here. They go on sale on April 1st.

Tickets/passes:
Adults, per day: £8
Adults, weekend pass: £12
Under 17s weekend pass: £5

Passes allow access to all venues partaking, including The Wheatsheaf, The Cellar, The Corner Room, The Jericho Tavern, The Bullingdon Arms, The Port Mahon, The Exeter, The City Tavern, and Far From The Madding Crowd.

Each venue promises a variety of bands, acoustic and electronic acts, painting and photography exhibitions, poetry readings, digital arts, dance groups and more. The final line-up will be made public on April 1st, but bands likely to appear include Dive Dive, Winnebago Deal (pictured), Belarus, The Rock Of Travolta and The Young Knives.

Places on the bill are still available, so any Oxfordshire acts interested in performing, selling or showcasing should get in touch with the festival via its MySpace site, here. Examples of work can also be posted to:
