South loosen their hold on the roof...
oappleby by Ollie Appleby August 8th, 2003
Bass-lead genre eluders South take to the roof of Camden's Lock Tavern to end their single & album promoting mini tour of Britain for a free gig.

First up is the single 'Loosen Your Hold' (the band's first release since their debut album, 'From Here On In' 2 years ago) out on monday the 11th of August on Double Dragon Records. Produced by Dave Eringa (Manics/Idlewild) the tracklisting is as follows:

1. 'Loosen Your Hold'
2. 'Too Much Too Soon' (never released in UK)
3. 'Estimation' (demo)

Following that, South are hitting 3 locations around the country before mounting Camden's Lock Tavern roof for a special one-off acoustic gig. After July's sold out gig at 93 Feet East this is the band's only scheduled London appearance and it's bound to get busy fast, and being free and with no reserved tickets make sure to get there before the 7pm kick off.

Those tour dates in full then:

August
13th - Cardiff Barfly
15th - Glasgow Nice'n'Sleazy
19th - Nottingham Rescue Room
20th - London Lock Tavern

Right after the single and tour quickly comes their 2nd album, well, quickly for a band who usually take about 120 weeks between record releases anyway. Titled 'With The Tides' the album is set to drop January of 2004 also on Double Dragon (not in September as once stated). There is also a South track appearing on this summer's forthcoming UNKLE album.

A busy time for the band indeed.
