BDB mixes with the smart set - still hasn't got rid of woolly hat.
ransell by Rachelle Ansell April 9th, 2001

Bladly Drawn Boy releases new single Spitting in the Wind (On Twisted Nerve through XL) on the 7th of May. The single title has been changed from "Pissing in the Wind" to "spitting in the wind" after fears that the original name would offend people, which would affect radio airplay.

Joan Collins has agreed to star in the promo video, she has been quoted by BDB's press office as saying: "I wanted to work with Damon because I consider him a very talented young man and I love his music. Doing this video appealed to me because of the strange juxtaposition of our two characters. I loved every minute."

The video was shot in Copenhagen during the BADLY DRAWN BOY European tour. The concept came from director Garth from Hammer & Tongs; "I never thought anyone would let us make this video. I especially didn't expect Joan to agree to singing 'I've been spitting in the wind, I chanced a foolish grin and dribbled on my chin,' in a bathtub." The video features Joan Collins and Damon Gough in trademark woooly tea cosy bathing and dressing for a party with BDB playing guardian angel to Collins tearful femme fatale. The tragic overtones fit perfectly with the song's own melancholy.

The single's released on two CDs and 10'', the tracklisting's are:
