Don't Forget Me!: Alzheimer's Society launches Asian music event
tom_edwards by Tom Edwards June 13th, 2004
London's Imperial College is to host a festival to celebrate Asian music and fashion, in support of the Alzheimer's Society's 25th Anniversary. The event taking place on Saturday 19th June is named Don't Forget Me! and aims to raise awareness about dementia within the Asian community, as well as providing funds to support the society in its work to reach out to to all people with dementia, their families and the professionals who work with them.

Dance & Fashion

The evening will open with some classical Indian dance provided by the dance group from the Bharatiya Vidhya BhavanHouse Of Udeshi, which has exhibited at major fashion shows in Florence, Paris and Milan and designs gentlemen’s outfits for the City. Other top end fashion labels on show include Designer Jazz Fashions and Damon Hoad. Actar Actar Fashions will also exhibit their sexy fusion style clothes as well as Sitarah, a more established name with a traditional Asian style.

Music

The audience will also be entertained by a wide variety of Asian music and dance from Breakdance, provided by Funkology, to Sitar provided by Vijay Jagtap, the resident sitar guru from the Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan. There will be a Bollywood Medley, the rock band The Voices, plus music from The State Of Bengal led by DJ Sam, the high profile fusion musician and DJ at the cutting edge of the British Asian music scene.
