'how i got over' is the ninth studio album from legendary philadelphia hip-hop outfit the roots. renowned for their live instrumental sound, the band take a different route here, collaborating with monsters of folk to create 'dear god 2.0' based on the folk supergroup's original with further indie-folk contributions coming from harpist joanna newsom. the band does return to familiar territory with help from rappers dice raw and blu on 'radio daze' while john legend lends hissoulful voice to 'doin' it again'.
