Butcher Boy - Helping Hands

Review by Will Metcalfe

While at times it might reek of emulation, Helping Hands is immensely enjoyable.»

Rough Trade Amazon UK

exquisitely packaged with a 16 page booklet, butcher boy's new record is on damaged goods. building on from their smiths and tindersticks-inspired indie pop, 'helping hands' ramps up the emotive quality and balladry. weeping strings accompany beautiful songs of loss and struggling with the modern world. tracks like 'the day our voices broke' touch on a nostalgic belle and sebastian-esque treatment of memory while 't for tommy' is a swoonsome ballad worthy of any 60s troubadour.
