Ryan Adams' new album is a self-titled affair and the first to be released on the combined Pax Am / Blue Note imprint. Produced by Adams himself at his own Pax Am Studios in Los Angeles, the new record is the NC-born singer / songwriter's first full length since 2011's acclaimed 'Ashes and Fire'. With it's punchy guitars and FM -rock choruses, it's not as far removed from 80's vintage Springsteen, Petty and his near namesake Bryan (and that's neither a joke nor a criticism). The difference is Ryan's double-denim rock passes through the filter of his damaged worldview, so even when he's swaggering on 'Gimme Something Good', he's weeping inside.
