The ex-Metallica guitarist and former sane man Dave Mustaine opens up Megadeth’s debut rampage with a decidedly non-metal piano intro reminiscent of the chilling theme from The Exorcist, needless to say it doesn’t last long before it gives way to a quick burst of white noise then releasing the possessed guitars out into the wild for a 27 minute thrash.

Even by today’s standards this is a quality album to stick on before a night out to really get geared up for a brutal pub-crawl. Production quality is good but not great with the vocals often coming through too quiet in some songs, however this is not a major hindrance as Megadeth are not about the vocals, it’s about being loud, fast and brutal… vocals are just another factor, at least on this record they are.

Mustaine proves his worth with some absolutely lightening fast solos, which I’m ashamed to say, got me into air guitar mode every single time.

There you have it… Music for people who want it loud, fast and brutal. Air guitarists apply within.
