Björk and Dirty Projectors collaboration teaser clips surface

News by Luke Slater

Who knew Iceland's finest musician of ever Björk was working with Dirty Projectors? Has it been a secret or something? OK, so they played together earlier last year but apparently there's also something concrete, something recorded, something aimed towards the sky and targeting eternal posterity. »

Listen: Passion Pit cover Smashing Pumpkins

News by Luke Slater

Do you know anything about the Levi's Pioneer Sessions? Apart from them being 'sponsored', which I imagine may turn some of you off, they actually seem pretty neat, especially with some of the stuff that has been chucked out recently. Probs worth checking a few of them out, like.»

Interpol album release date gets put forward, watch video

News by Luke Slater

It may be an uncommon tactic, but Interpol's new and fourth album will be self-titled. We were told earlier in the year that the release date for it would be the week of September 13 but that's all changed now. Well, not all changed, but at least put forward by a week so the release date is September 7 in the US. »

Watch: Villagers - 'Ship Of Promises'

News by Luke Slater

Conor O'Brien and Villagers have already made one of the albums of the year. But don't take our word for it! Etc. Yes, there's another single from the record Becoming A Jackal, which must've been pretty difficult to choose as every last song is a potential individually brilliant nugget worthy of a singular release.»

Ever since Titus Andronicus's newest record came out we've been wondering several things. Firstly "how do you go about writing a record around The American Civil War?"...what's the starting point? 1861? When in 1861? Secondly, "how bloody good is this record, eh?". Answer - it's very, very good.»

Watch: Crystal Castles - 'Celestica'

News by Luke Slater

Crystal Castles have always struck me as a profoundly scary duo. Not majorly, but so much so that you think they might end up doing something "unhinged" at any possible moment. It's mainly the look in Alice Glass's eyes and the tone in her voice, even when at its most angelic, if you can use that word to describe it. »

DiS meets The Magic Numbers

In Depth by Luke Slater

The Magic Numbers had two years, two albums and two top #20 entries for those very albums. That was back in 2006. Giving themselves some time off from the grind of touring-recording-touring the band got back together in late 2009 to record the follow-up to 2006's Those The Brokes, working with Icelandic producer of much repute Valgeir Sigurðsson. Liverpool's Clinic seem to be a regimented, if not entirely OCD, type of lads. Since releasing their debut in the year 2000, they've released one in 2002, one in 2004, one in 2006 and one in 2008.
