So, all day you've been waiting to hear who will be playing Reading and Leeds 2010 and possibly debating whether you can be bothered to fork out for a ticket. The first chunk of acts have just been announced quite ceremoniously on Radio 1 by the excitable Kiwi Zane Lowe. Cutting the jibber to a minimum, here is a rough guide to who will be playing over the course of the three days in the form of an image.»

The Libertines to reform for Reading and Leeds?

News by Luke Slater

"Absolutely sensational!" in the words of one Murray Walker. If you believe the rumours - which you'd probably be better off not doing - Carl Barat and Peter Doherty will bury the hatchet (really?!) and reform the once beloved Libertines, performing at this year's Reading and Leeds festivals.»

News by Luke Slater

Super Brilliant Super Furry Animal Gruff Rhys has announced yet another collaborative side-project, this time with Brazilian musical trailblazer Tony Da Gatorra. The record is called The Terror of Cosmic Loneliness and I'd imagine that the title gives a fair indication of the sounds found within.»

6Music protest info contained within....

News by Luke Slater

You may have noticed the recent news that 6Music is to close. Plenty of groups have sprung up in protest, including this one with over 70,000 members. Impressive. There has also been a protest arranged outside Broadcast House, for quite obvious reasons. That takes place tomorrow at Midday and features a whole range of wonderful events. Well, a few anyway!»

Listen: LCD Soundsystem - 'Drunk Girls'

News by Luke Slater

Yeah, this has been floating around for a good few hours right now but due to a combination of factors (one of them being spending far too long on a FCC train sans internet connection and any available seats) we're only just getting round to it. But it's Friday evening and I have better things to be doing, frankly. »

The Dead Weather reveal more album details

News by Luke Slater

Jack White's prolificacy seems to know no boundaries. In the (just over) ten years that he's been releasing music we've heard SIX White Stripes albums, TWO Raconteurs albums and so far ONE Dead Weather record. That's a lot, and the final group in that list is why we're here, as they've announced a few more details surrounding their upcoming record, Sea of Cowards, which is released on May 10 through Third Man/Warner. »

The Futureheads announce album release, read our review now!

Right, this may seem a bit strange and unconventional, but we didn't want to just stick the new Futureheads album review on the front page unannounced, without some kind of background information. Mysterious appearances are best limited to ones of a financial end. »

News by Luke Slater

New York's noisy trio A Place To Bury Strangers have a new video, for 'Ego Death' taken from their 9/10 rated 2009 LP - Exploding Head. In describing this particular track, Dom Gourlay used the phrase "the band's penchant for carving industrial dogma into elongated slabs of white noise...", a turn which I like greatly. »
