'The Dark Is Rising' for Mercury Rev
oappleby by Ollie Appleby December 6th, 2001
Mercury Rev will be releasing the second single, the opening track from their current album. 'All Is Dream' which has recently gone silver in the UK. The single is 'The Dark Is Rising'

'The Dark Is Rising' will be released on January 14th on V2 Recordings, over 2 CD's and a DVD, including live performances from the recent European tour and new studio recordings which cover material written by Irving Berlin, Frederic Chopin and Black Sabbath.

The track listing is as follows:

CD1 The Dark Is Rising (lp version)/ Nocturne in C# minor - Opus 27 No 1 (Chopin)/ Planet Caravan (Black Sabbath)

CD2 The Dark Is Rising (lp version)/Spiders and flies (live)/Blue Skies (Berlin)

DVD The Dark Is Rising (recorded live at Reading Festival)/Prelude in E Flat Minor - Opus 48 No 4 (Chopin)/Tides Of The Moon (live)

The DVD also includes a picture gallery and four 30 second video clips. The video for 'The Dark Is Rising' has a very cinematic look and was directed by Ton Van Den Ende whose work includes videos for the likes of Thom Yorke, David Gray and Manic Street Preachers among many others.

Mercury Rev are currently still on tour in America, everyone loves them so they'll probably play over here next year.
